Midsommar celebration at Mounts Bay Distillery

Midsommar — the longest day, the Cornish way

For us, Midsommar is the best day of the year.

In Sweden, the summer solstice isn't just a date on the calendar — it's a full celebration. Flowers in your hair, tables laden with food, schnapps raised to the longest evening of the year. It's loud, joyful, and completely unapologetic about it.

When we moved back to Cornwall, we tried to keep the Midsommar tradition alive and well.

Now every June we mark the longest day the Swedish way — good food, good company, and drinks that deserve the occasion. Cornwall does its part too: the light here in late June is something else entirely, and the coastline at 10pm on the solstice is hard to beat.

Ebba Coastal Gin Midsommar serve

This year we're raising a glass of Ebba Coastal Gin — our Atlantic-botanical dry gin, distilled right here in Cornwall — and toasting to the longest evening of the year.

Two places, one celebration. The Swedish spirit, the Cornish coast.
